Local students in grades 7 to 10 are benefiting this year from online tutoring to help them succeed in math.

This year, 4575 students in 65 schools at 2 local school boards now have access to Ontario’s Homework Help program.

Homework Help is a free, confidential, real-time math tutoring service that connects certified Ontario teachers with students who are looking for extra support. The service also offers a number of resources that are available to students and parents at any time, including:

 Videos of best-practice tutorials
 Commonly asked questions
 Interactive math games
 A virtual locker, where students can save their work.

The Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board and the Near North District School Board are two of 31 school boards offering the program this year.

“I am pleased that our government has expanded Homework Help to 31 school boards, including the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board and the Near North District School Board,” said Monique Smith, MPP for Nipissing. “This online resource will give students the boost they need to get ahead in math.”

“This is a great program that supports our students outside of the classroom and gives them the extra help they need to be successful in school and in life,” said Leona Dombrowsky, Minister of Education.
