Habitat for Humanity (HFH) Recycling Program Committee chair Pop Can Ellie (aka Ellen Faulkner) would like to remind everyone that the pop can recycling program is still operating in the city.

The committee accepts pop cans as well as all aluminum cans, but remember if a magnet sticks to it put it in your blue box HFH can’t use it. The committee accepts beer cans, beer bottles and liquor bottles as well.

Drop off locations are now located at both Salvation Army Thrift Stores (McIntyre St. and Lakeshore Dr.), Alterna Savings (Shirreff Avenue) and at Grand & Toy’s Receiving Department.

Since starting the recycling program in May 2007 the program has raised over $23,000 that in turn is invested in the building of affordable homes for local families.

The Breakdown:

2007 - $3670.82 (7 Months)

2008 - $8789.71 + $2500 from Alcan = $11,289.71

2009 - $4801.20

2010 - $3869.61
