Two people die in Hwy 17 west motor vehicle collision Update

Commanda Township - Officers with the North Bay OPP and Traffic Technical Collision Investigators are continuing their investigation into a fatal motor vehicle collision on Hwy 17 west of North Bay occurring on December 30 which has now claimed two lives.

Dorothy MCLEOD, Age 58 years of Garden Village, Ontario died at the scene.

Jean Pierre DUCLOS, Age 65 years of St. Mathieu Du Parc, Quebec died later at the North Bay General Hospital.

Shortly after 12:00 noon, DUCLOS was east bound on Hwy 17 in a 2008 Mitsubishi Lance when he crossed the centre line resulting in a collision with MCLEOD who was west bound in a 1999 Dodge Caravan.

A third vehicle a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am driven by Renee MARLEAU, Age 20 years of Sturgeon Falls was indirectly involved when it struck debris from the collision.

The two passengers in the MCLEOD vehicle and the one passenger in the DUCLOS vehicle were taken to North Bay General Hospital.

The road condition at the time of the collision was wet and the weather was cloudy.
