Political types take top spots as newsmakers for 2010

North Bay’s new mayor Al McDonald was voted the Top Newsmaker of 2010. McDonald received 3 first place votes for a total of 35 total points in the annual media survey.

McDonald isn’t the only politician who made news in 2010 in fact the top 5 spots in the survey went to politicians. Former Mayor Vic Fedeli and MPP Monique Smith tied for second place, with both racking up 25 points. While the 2006 to 2010 City Council come in fourth place with 21 points. And with 20 points fifth place went to former Premier Mike Harris and the public reaction to the new education library being naming in his honour.

City taxpayers made the top ten securing sixth place with 18 points.

King of the slopes Steve Omischl took 7th place in the survey while So You Think You Can Dance Canada contestant Kloe Schultz and Coach4Food's Tom Hedican tied for 8th.

Rounding out the top 10 newsmakers of 2010 is former North Bay and Area Chamber of Commerce President and new city councillor Sean Lawlor.
