Multi-tractor trailer collision closes Hwy 11N Update

OPP advise motorists that Hwy 11N re-opened at 2:25pm.

NOTMAN TOWNSHIP – On Tuesday, December 14, 2010, North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a multi-tractor trailer collision on Highway 11N in Notman Township at approximately 10:15 am.

Blowing snow causing whiteout conditions, snow packed and icy highways resulted in a collision involving five tractor trailers on Highway 11N approximately 15 km north of Sand Dam Road. There are minor injuries to one driver.

In addition there are multiple vehicles in the ditch in the same area as well.

Highway 11 is currently closed at Cedar Heights Rd, North Bay and at Highway 64 to the north. At the present time Highway 64 remains open as a detour.

The investigation is ongoing and officers remain at the scene while the area is being cleared up. Highway 11N will be closed for an undetermined period of time.

North Bay OPP advise motorists that as of 10:45am Hwy 11 North North at Tilden Lake is closed due to weather related driving conditions as well as a number of motor vehicle collisions and several Transport Trucks jacknifed on the highway.

A Detour is available via Hwy 64 to Field.

The estimated duration of this road closure is unknown.
