A winter storm centre over Northwestern Ohio will move northeast over Lake Erie to reach Western Lake Ontario by this evening. This storm centre will continue to track northeast across Eastern Ontario into Southern Québec by Monday morning.

Snow from this storm has moved into the regions and will become heavy at times today into tonight as the winter storm intensifies. As a result a general snowfall of 20 to 30 cm is likely by Monday morning..With even higher total amounts of 30 to 40 cm quite possible in the Sudbury..North Bay..And Temagami areas. The snow will begin to taper off slowly on Monday as the storm centre moves further away over Québec.

In addition, strong and gusty northerly winds are developing as expected and these will whip up the freshly fallen snow resulting in blowing snow and near blizzard conditions in exposed areas.

Dangerous driving conditions from nil visibility and whiteout conditions in heavy snow and blowing snow are quite possible. Motorists should adjust travel plans or postpone travel accordingly until this winter storm is over.
