Power outage gives some West Ferris students get the afternoon off

A power outage at West Ferris Secondary School occurred today at noon. Students and staff at West Ferris Secondary School were safely accommodated and directed into school areas with natural light.

North Bay Hydro determined that the power outage occurred as a result of an issue with a transformer. At that time, it was not anticipated that power would be restored during the school day. As a result, city students, who are within walking distance and had parental permission, were dismissed to go home.

In the meantime, power was restored and classes have resumed for students who were not yet dismissed, including bused students.

Buses will depart from the school at the end of the day.
The Near North District School Board would like to thank the power authority workers and Board staff who are worked diligently to deal with this concern.
