The Annual Santa Fund is gearing up for the 63rd annual Santa Fund and this year, more than ever, they need the support and generosity of North Bay to shine through. With over 825 families on this year’s “Nice List”, the Santa Fund is looking at one of their largest amounts ever to ensure that this Christmas, there are no families without food and no children without toys.

This year, North Bay’s Santa Fund needs to raise $150,000 to ensure that their goal is met, one of the largest goals in the history of the fund.

“For 63 years, the Fund has made sure that every family has food on the table and gifts under the tree at Christmas, and this year, we are asking that the citizens of North Bay really step up to support those in the community who are less fortunate,” said fund co-chair Lachlan McLachlan.

If you are a family in need or know a family in need within the North Bay city limits, applications for Santa Fund assistance are now available at this year’s office located at 151A Main Street West, (across the street from last year's location) from November 22 to December 10. The office is open from 9:30am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday (special arrangements can be made if necessary) and the deadline for applications: December 10th, 2010. The only information required is your name, address, phone number, children’s names and ages; however, we will require verification that the children reside with you (the names should be listed on your income stub or we can verify your Child Tax Credit with your bank statement or CRA stub). If you are referring a family for assistance, the Santa Fund will require the name, address, phone number, children’s names and ages, as well as your name, phone number and relationship to the family.

In addition to the generous financial support of the Santa Fund every year, hundreds of people also volunteer their time, and this year is no different. They are currently seeking assistance with the packing of gift baskets at the Troy Armories at 6pm on December 22, and with deliveries on December 23 starting at 10am.

The Santa Fund is an annual initiative that aims to provide toys to children and food to families in North Bay who are in need of assistance during the holiday season. Anyone wishing to donate to the Santa Fund can do so c/o The Nugget, 259 Worthington St. W. P.O. Box 570, North Bay, ON. P1B 8J6.
