In celebration of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) Canada, the Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF) and the North Bay and District Chamber of Commerce Young Professional Committee are challenging North Bayites to share tips, suggestions and advice for young entrepreneurs in the Great Canadian Mentoring Challenge (GCMC).

Beginning today, business experts and everyday Canadians are encouraged to visit www.mentorchallenge.ca and submit their best business tips for new business owners. Submissions, which are also accepted through the Twitter hashtag #gcmc, will be visible to anyone seeking advice and will be repurposed through CYBF’s many online resources available to young entrepreneurs.

“Mentorship is pivotal to the success of young entrepreneurs. So much so that at CYBF we attribute our incredible 94 per cent start-up success rate to the mentor/entrepreneur relationship,” explains Norm Grey, mentoring director at CYBF. “Sharing your experience in business, even if just briefly, can really help guide entrepreneurs through the process of starting up and running their businesses successfully.”

“We have some amazing business leaders that can certainly share their advice and expertise with young entrepreneurs in our region. Mentors have strengths in different areas of business and are happy to share their past experiences to ensure the young entrepreneur’s success in business,” stated Patti Carr, Executive Director of the North Bay & District Chamber of Commerce. “We are certainly excited to participate in Global Entrepreneurship Week.”

The Great Canadian Mentoring Challenge is one of hundreds of events, initiatives and activities taking place during GEW Canada, a global movement to inspire young people to embrace innovation, imagination and creativity through entrepreneurship.

The GCMC forum will be open for submissions through November 30, 2010 and is powered by GEW partner, Nerds on Site Canada. For more information, visit www.mentorchallenge.ca.
