The North Bay Police Service wishes to announce new Vehicle Impoundment Programs that have been introduced by the Province and will be effective December 1, 2010. Drivers whose licence has been suspended by the Province, and who are caught driving will suspended, will have the vehicle they are driving impounded for 7 days under this new legislation.

Also of note, drivers who are required to have a vehicle ignition interlock device and who are found driving without such a device, or drivers caught with a blood alcohol concentration over 0.08 or who fail/refuse to comply with a demand to provide a breath sample made by a police officer under the Criminal Code of Canada, and who are caught driving will also have the vehicle they are driving impounded for 7 days under this new legislation.

The North Bay Police Service welcomes this new legislation as it will help the Service work towards its objective set out in its 2010 Traffic Management, Enforcement and Road Safety Plan, that is to ensure the safe and efficient movement of traffic within the City of North Bay and Callander.
