"Connecting to kids today … preventing crime tomorrow” is this year’s theme for crime prevention week, November 7 – 13, 2010. The Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police Officers will be involved in different activities in the communities during this week.

Police along with VCARS (Victim Crisis Assistance and Referral Services) and Community Policing will be setting up an information table at the Foodland Grocery Store in Sundridge on Wednesday November 10, 2010 between 10am and 4pm. They will provide information on how to prevent crime and how to report crime when it does occur.

On November 11 and 12, 2010, officers will be at Land of Lakes Senior Public School. Students will learn about the dangers of facebook with Detective Constable Truax. They will also learn the importance of physical fitness as they watch officers demonstrate the police fitness test.

Grade 12 students at Almaguin Highlands Secondary will meet with Detective Constable O’Grady on Friday November 12, 2010 and learn about healthy relationships and what to do if abuse is present in a relationship.
