Near North District School Board student, Dan Turner is one of fifty Ontario students who have been selected to play in the Ontario Honour Band. Dan, currently in Grade 11 at West Ferris Secondary School, is one of two Tuba players who have been chosen.

Fifty of the province's most talented high school musicians will take part in an intensive week of music making. The annual ensemble gives the participants the opportunity to work with world-renowned conductors throughout the week-long event. Rehearsals begin today in Oakville, Ontario and will conclude with a final performance at the Ontario Music Educators Association Conference in London, Ontario on November 6th.

Before he left for Oakville, Dan Turner said "I'm looking forward to working with a new band and pulling off six hard pieces in three days."

Dan is a member of the West Ferris Secondary School Concert Band, the 22 Wing Band and the North Bay Symphony Orchestra. When not practicing his tuba, Dan also plays drums, bass, guitar and sings. He is currently working on recording and releasing a fully independent demo CD.

Next year, Dan will be auditioning at various universities to continue his career in Music.
