They Came, They Saw, They Conquered ... and they left an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of area students.

Over the past three days the Young Americans, a California-based performing group, were in the city to work with local students from grade 4 to 12 as part of their international music outreach program.

The outreach program is designed to allow students to explore everything from vocal techniques, dance, and comedy improvisation, to stage movement, sound, and lighting while learning to work together, respect each others strengths, and discover their own potential all through music and dance. It also serves as a reminder for everyone that arts is an important component to learning.

The end product of the three-day workshop was a star studded production that had the audience dancing in the isles and parents grabbing the spotlight for a song or two.

The final number was performed by the local students and featured their re-write of the chart topping "Love the way you lie" by Eminem and Rihanna.
