North Bay Candidates Respond to the Results of the Community Values Survey

Check out which North Bay candidates said what:

Regarding the Waterfront Park: “... [we should] anchor the area with a modern and viable (private sector) 4 season facility.”

“I don’t think it’s fair to suggest we should consult when there is controversial issues.”

“... we could have a plasma burning garbage facility to rid ourselves of all new gas entering our landfill.”

All of these are included in the comments made by various candidates responding to the results of the Community Values Survey. The survey was run earlier this fall by the North Bay Civic League. Over 500 respondents completed it.

Candidates were asked these questions:
The survey identified areas where respondents generally feel Council has done a good job, but in three of the areas, vision, communication & environment, the satisfaction dropped significantly (to about 20%).

Here are the specific values for which respondents were less than satisfied with Council’s performance:

1. Having a vision for North Bay's social, economic and environmental future is important.

2. Communication on major issues is a responsibility of City Council.

3. Protecting the environment is important e.g. parks, clean air, green space, safe beaches, trails, waste reduction, bike lanes.

How would you address these areas in the next term of Council?

And a second question relating to communication: How do you, or will you, consult with your constituents when there is controversy?

Seventeen responses have been received so far. They are posted as received at www.northbaycivicleague.org/candidatesresponses.html.

North Bay Civic League encourages everyone of voting age to check out how candidates responded to these questions.
