The North Bay Police Service wishes to caution the public about a new e-mail fraud that had recently been sent to numerous people in the North Bay area.

The e-mail states that a friend or someone close to you wants you dead and the hit will happen soon. The e-mail goes on to say that they have already done the background and planning and have learned that you may be an innocent pawn. They are offering you the opportunity to save your own life by sending them an amount of money larger that the price of the contract on you. If this money is paid then a tape of the person who wants you dead will be forwarded to you so you can report it to the police. The e-mail solicits a response from you.

The North Bay Police Service advises that under no circumstance should anyone respond to this or any other similar type of message.

If anyone has already responded to this type of e-mail then they should contact their local police agency as soon as possible.
