The North Bay Police and Ontario Provincial Police are cautioning the public regarding several residential break and enters that are occurring in rural areas of the city and in particular the rural areas of Callander, Astorville and Corbeil. These break and enters are occurring during daylight hours and only at residences where no one is home. We request that anyone in these rural areas notify your local police agency if you have experienced or observed suspicious activity such as the following:

- Strange vehicle(s) driving into your driveway and/or approaching your residence or parked in your area

- Persons coming to their residence looking for directions or claiming that they are representing some company, agency, survey or for any other reason that did not appear to be legitimate

- Repeated strange phone calls or hang-ups. (If you have caller ID, note that information)

- Any other suspicious activity near your residence or neighbourhood

Please notify your local police agency with any information relating to the above or with any knowledge of the residential break and enters.

Residents in any rural settings are requested to ensure your homes are well secured upon departure and be very vigilant regarding all of the aforementioned activities.
