This Saturday (October 16th), over 20 elementary school children (grades 8 and under) will help to raise money for worthy causes at the Second Annual Children’s Charity Fair, held at Northgate Shopping Centre.

The event, sponsored by the Rotary Club of North Bay -Nipissing, began last year as a means to celebrate and raise awareness about the charitable work of youth in the region; at that time, over $1000 was raised.

“It’s really inspiring to see so many boys and girls in the community who want to actively work for the betterment of others – this is our way of spotlighting what they do,” says Jennifer McNutt Bywater, one of the event’s coordinators.

Saturday’s Children’s Charity Fair takes place between 10 am and 3 pm. Hand-made crafts and other gifts – made by the children themselves – will be on sale. Proceeds from the will benefit an array of charities chosen by the students, including the Humane Society, LIPI, National Service Dogs, Voice, Patrick4Life, Dreamcoat Theatre and a Balinese turtle sanctuary.

Throughout the event, a group of young singers will provide entertainment.
