Fatal MVC on Hwy 17 West of Jocko Point Rd

West Nipissing – North Bay OPP along with Technical Traffic Investigators are investigating a double fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred on Hwy # 17 near Jocko Point Rd. The accident occurred at 8PM, 09Oct2010.

The eastbound Honda driven by 88 year old Edward McGIRR of North Bay struck a moose and then entered the south ditch. McGIRR was killed instantly.

The passenger 79 year old Beth Coxford of North Bay succumbed to her injuries at West Nipissing hospital.

North Bay OPP advise motorists that Hwy 17 West of Jocko Point Rd is down to one lane, alternating traffic through due to a single vehicle colision.

There is no detour and the estimated duration of road advisory is unknown.
