Candidate for mayor Al McDonald rolled out his election platform for the media Friday morning at the North Bay Waterfront.

“It is important for voters to know where I stand on local issues and priorities,” McDonald told reporters.

“Today, I am releasing my plan for the next four years 'North Bay 2014'. This plan is more than one man’s vision for our community; I believe it represents the priorities and goals that I have heard from citizens across the city.”

Key areas McDonald highlighted were:

- Improving communication between city hall and residents as well as other levels of government

- Increased economic growth and infrastructure renewal

- Taxes

- A long-term sustainable green strategy

- Completing the waterfront rail lands redevelopment

- Enhancing festivals and tourism

- Renewing efforts to welcome newcomers.

- Improved services for seniors

- Development of a youth strategy

McDonald says there have been great strides made to enhance the waterfront and he is committed to working with the Community Waterfront Friends to see the vision through to completion.

“I think the Community Waterfront Friends vision and their dedication in the last 10 years is just unbelievable,” he says.

“And I honestly believe our city should partner with this group going forward.

McDonald's 2014 plan will include Twice yearly citizen forums as well as striking committees to address issues facing youth, seniors and business. He also says that he will foster an improved relationship with the federal and provincial governments.

McDonald also applauds his fellow candidates Harvey Villneff and Valerie Chadbourne for working hard to get their message out as well.
