North Bay Police wish to caution the public about phone frauds being perpetrated in North Bay.

We have had 2 incidents where seniors have been called from an out of town number by a person claiming to be their grandson. They seem to have some inside information about the grandson’s name.

The caller states that he is in jail and needs bail money. A second person then comes on the line stating that he is the Grandson’s Lawyer and asks for a particular amount to be wired to him through Western Union. In one of the North Bay incidents $4,755 was wired.

Anyone receiving similar calls is requested to contact your local police agency.
