On October 4th and 5th, a small contingent of Canadian Forces members primarily from 22 Wing/CFB North Bay will conduct tactical air support training exercises with low-flying jet aircraft in and over the Lake Temagami region.

No ordnance of any kind will be used during the exercise, which will take place during daylight hours only, and training will not impede residents’ access to properties or roads.

The attached map highlights the access road where Canadian Forces members will be situated during the exercise.

The two-day exercise provides aerospace controllers and aerospace control operators a venue to practice air strike simulation as well as forward air control (FAC) tactics. FAC is a specialty within the aerospace community whereby air controllers deploy with mobile ground units to provide guidance on the best use of air power, to establish and maintain air to ground communications and to provide targeting guidance to “Close Air Support” aircraft in order to maximize strike accuracy and minimize collateral damage.
