CUPE moves to unify northern members

Strengthening ties for CUPE members in northern Ontario topped the agenda for union leaders as they met in North Bay this past week.

The conference featured CUPE National President Paul Moist, MP Carol Hughes and MPP Gilles Bisson.

Local President Henri Giroux says northern members are unique because they spread out and represent small rural communities it is important for them to unite.

He says pension contributions is also a hot button issue for his members.
