City pharmacy robbed Saturday Updated

On Sat 2nd Oct at approximately 1:50 PM a male person wearing a mask and in possession of a machete entered Guardian Drugs on Algonquin Ave.

The subject demanded narcotics, and was given a number of pills. The suspect left the premisis and fled in a dark coloured car.

Investigation by Cst Chris Johnson identified the suspect and he was subsequently arrested by the O.P.P.

Shayne Poitras 26 yrs of Bonfield Ont. is charged with Robbery, Disguise with Intent, Trafficking in a controlled Drug, and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.

A portion of the drugs has been recovered and further investigation indicates there may be another person involved.

The Investigation is continuing.

Reports indicate that police have a suspect in custody after the Guardian Pharmacy on Algonquin Avenue was robbed Saturday afternoon around 1:30pm.

Further reports indicate the a male suspect entered the pharmacy with a machete demanding narcotics which were handed over then fled off in a vehicle. The vehicle was located in the Trout Creek area and the driver was taken into custody and charged with robbery.

The suspect is described as a 26-year-old male from Bonfield and remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing Monday.

Police are looking for a second suspect.

The investigation continues.
