OPP officer charged with criminal harassment

ORILLIA - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Professional Standards Bureau (PSB), has charged an OPP officer following an investigation into criminal harassment.

As a result of receiving information, the OPP Professional Standards Bureau launched a criminal investigation into domestic related criminal harassment. As a result of the investigation, an officer stationed in North East Region has been charged with Criminal Harassment, contrary to the Criminal Code.

The male officer, a 28 year member of the OPP will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Haileybury on October 22, 2010.

As this is a domestic related incident the OPP does not release the name of the charged person to protect the privacy of victims of domestic violence.
