East Side Mario’s played host to the 8th Annual Power Play for Easter Seals Kick-Off Luncheon for $5, which had all attendees enjoying pizza, salad and a soft drink, in support of children, youth and young adults with physical disabilities.

Team participants, sponsors, volunteers, members of the Easter Seals North Bay District Council and Power Play committee, and members of the Nipissing Lakers Hockey Team, were in attendance to help kick-off the street hockey tournament, slated for Sunday September 26th, in the parking lot at East Side Mario’s on Lakeshore Drive, from 10 am to 6 pm.

“This is a great event for Easter Seals and we have tremendous support from the corporate community,” said Easter Seals Development Officer, Roxanne Kneer. “Pembridge Insurance is onboard as our presenting sponsor and many local businesses are involved either by sponsoring a portion of the event or by entering teams.”

Monies raised will go toward helping children with physical disabilities by funding essential mobility equipment such as walkers, wheelchairs, and communication devices, providing summer camping experiences at Easter Seals camps, and funding other recreational programs, such as day camps, swimming and art classes. Since 1999, Power Play has raised over $2 million for Easter Seals kids.

Easter Seals Ontario was founded in 1922 with a vision to create a better life for children and youth with physical disabilities. Since then, Easter Seals has been providing financial assistance for essential mobility equipment and communication devices, such as walkers, wheelchairs, porch lifts and ramps to families who require additional help and support in raising a child with a physical disability. Easter Seals also owns and operates two fully accessible summer camps and provides funding for children and youth with physical disabilities to attend other recreational programs.
