West Nipissing Ouest Mayor Joanne Savage was joined by members of the municipal Economic Development Authority today for the unveiling of a new municipal welcome sign and media campaign materials.

Standing road side, Mayor Savage said, “Unveiling this new welcome sign brings me a great sense of pride and accomplishment. Planing for this project has been ongoing for some time and I am very proud of the outcome and pleased to reveal what is the first of four such signs for our municipality.”

Signs will eventually be located on Hwy 17 as you approach West Nipissing Ouest from Sudbury, and on hwy 64 at both the north and south municipal entry points. “Welcome signage is an important part of conveying municipal pride and in ensuring a traveling public knows they have arrived in our wonderful community.” said the Mayor.

Also revealed today by her worship and members of the Economic Development Authority, at the Tourist Information Centre, were print ad materials highlighting positive attributes of West Nipissing Ouest. The first ad is currently running in Food and Drink magazine providing a circulation of more than 500,000 magazines and a readership exceeding more than 2 million. The second ad will run in Chill magazine which has a circulation of 204,000 and a readership of more than 850,000.

“Both publications provide an amazing amount of exposure for our municipality. The EDA has been working very hard on the development of positive and proactive municipal marketing messaging and TWG Communications has crafted the perfect look and feel to communicate what it means to live in West Nipissing Ouest and to explain our vision regarding Joie de vivre.” said Mayor Savage.

The municipality is currently in the first stage of a media and marketing campaign designed to highlight the municipality and to increase tourism, increase investment and most of all to build interest in the municipality as a place to live.

“We have a strategy to raise the number of permanent residents and this campaign is part of our initiative to increase awareness. We are delighted with the materials and we look forward to welcoming interested individuals.” Said Barry Bertrand, Chair; Marketing Committee Economic Development Authority.

“Municipalities of all sizes have to do more to encourage people to take a look at them as they compete for tourism and investment dollars and as they work to increase immigration. West Nipissing Ouest is no different.” Said Mayor Savage.
