White River OPP missing a gun Update

White River – Superior East OPP - White River advise that the Remington 12 gauge shotgun has been recovered. It was located on the shoulder of Highway 17 near White River by a passing motorist who had heard the public advisory. The firearm is now in police possession.

The OPP thank the media and the public for their assistance in locating the missing firearm.

At approximately, 02:30 hrs on the 6th of September 2010, Officers of the White River Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police discovered an OPP Remington 12 gauge, pump action shotgun missing after routine patrol.

Police discovered the 12 gauge shotgun, bearing serial number X127769M, went missing from Detachment sometime between 07:00 hrs on the 5th of September 2010 and 02:30 hrs on the 6th of September 2010. Should any member of the public know the location or find this firearm they asked not to touch it and call police immediately.

A police investigation remains ongoing. Any information about this missing-lost firearm, its whereabouts or its location should be reported to any officer at the White River OPP Detachment or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
