Two new fires confrimed in the east region

Two new fires were confirmed on August 17. Sudbury 154, was a municipal fire that was actioned by the Estaire/Wanup Fire Department. Sault Ste. Marie 33 was a fire caused by a downed tree on a power line. Both of these fires have been declared out.

So far today, August 18, there have been five new fires. Sudbury 155, near Burwash, is being held at 0.2 hectares. Sudbury 156, along the shores of Georgian Bay and east of Killarney, is not under control at 0.2 hectares. Sudbury 157, near Chiniguchi Lake, is being held at 0.1 hectares. Timmins 47, southwest of Timmins, is 0.1 hectares and is not under control. Chapleau 37, an island fire on Indian Lake, is not under control at 0.1 hectares. There are no issues anticipated
with any of these new fires.

Ontario has 330 staff remaining in British Columbia following a return home of 161 personnel on August 17 who had served their maximum time out of province.
