Water Street man charged with assault with a weapon

On August 14, at approximately 9:25pm, a 37-year-old male was accosted by another male, known to him, in the area of Cassells & the North Bay By-pass. It is alleged this other male demanded money from the victim. When the victim did not comply, the accused spat in the victim’s face and punched him in the face. The accused followed the victim to the area of Shopper’s Drug Mart on Cassells Street while threatening to stab the victim with a jack-knife he had in his hand. The victim knocked the knife out of the accused’s hand. This second altercation was witnessed by an off-duty police officer. She called in the complaint to on-duty police, who arrested a suspect.

Douglas Soule, 32-years, of Water Street in North Bay was remanded in custody pending a bail hearing on August 16; charged with Assault, Threatening, and Assault with a weapon.
