The Northern Ontario Chapter of the Blue Knights® Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club will be hosting the third annual Ride Against Crime on August 14th, 2010 in and around the North Bay area. Motorcyclists will join together to raise funds for Near North Crime Stoppers.

Anyone with a motorcycle is welcome to come and enjoy the day and a ride that will take riders from North Bay, through Callander, Nipissing, Powassan, East Ferris, Rutherglen and Mattawa before returning to North Bay.

Registration for the ride will take place at Don Cherry’s Sport Grill, 1501 Seymour St., North Bay commencing at 9:30 am with the ride leaving from that same location at 11:00 am. Anyone who does not ride a motorcycle but still wishes to financially support this event can do so by attending at that location. Charitable receipts will be issued for financial donations of $20.00 or more.

The Blue Knights® is a Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club consisting of serving and retired members of Law Enforcement. The North Ontario Chapter, Ontario X encompasses all areas North of the North Bay – Sudbury area and west to the Manitoba boarder. Our Chapter is involved in fund raising for the Northeastern Ontario Cancer Centre in Sudbury, the Elliot Lake Palliative Care Program and, for the past three years, Near North Crime Stoppers. Our members attend and support various rides of other clubs in support of many charities. There are over 20 000 Blue Knight® members in 29 countries around the world who have donated over $11.3 million dollars in time and money to deserving charities.

Near North Crime Stoppers is a Non-Profit organization that has served the citizens of North Bay and surrounding area for over twenty years. Crime Stoppers allows for people to provide anonymous information which is then given to the appropriate law enforcement agency. If the information given leads to an arrest or charge, the person who gave the information is eligible for a cash reward. Since inception, Near North Crime Stoppers has played a part in recovering over $46.5 million in property or drugs and has paid out in excess of $164 000.00 in rewards to the anonymous tipsters.
