WHAT: Interviews with individuals who worked at CFB North Bay during the construction of and/or with the technology involved with NORAD’s Semi-Automatic Ground Environment (SAGE) system.

WHERE: Discovery North Bay Museum

BRIEF: The Semi-Automatic Ground Environment (SAGE) was a revolutionary piece of computer technology used to support the air defense of both the United States and Canada. This created one of the first large-scale computer networks, and kept thousands of SAGE operators linked to information about possible threats. CFB North Bay was the only location for a NORAD base that held both a SAGE Combat Centre and SAGE Direction Centre, and was the only base with that equipment in Canada. Additionally, the entire SAGE system was housed in an underground building. We are looking to conduct interviews with individuals who were involved with SAGE in either its construction phase or during its utilization. Interviews will take place at the museum at a mutually convenient time; however alternate accommodations can be arranged.
