Mattawa and area communities joining forces to attract new business

Communities in the Mattawa area are working together to attract new business and strengthen its economy.

With support from the Northern Communities Investment Readiness (NCIR) program, the Mattawa Bonfield Economic Development Corporation (MBEDC) is developing a regional profile that will help market the advantages of local communities to potential investors.

“I am pleased that the province is supporting these communities as they work to attract investors interested in developing local industry,” said Monique Smith, MPP for Nipissing.

“The Northern Communities Investment Readiness program is an effective tool for northern communities identifying opportunities for economic diversification,” said Michael Gravelle, Minister of Northern Development, Mines and Forestry.

QUICK FACTS

 The province is supporting this initiative with $10,125 from the NCIR program.

 The MBEDC represents the Town of Mattawa, Mattawan Township, the Township of Bonfield, the Municipality of Calvin and Papineau-Cameron Township.

 To date, more than $1.8 million in NCIR funding has been approved for more than 200 initiatives across the North.
