Sudbury/Espanola – Officers from the Sudbury OPP Detachment are investigating a single vehicle collision that occurred on Highway 69, causing the death of the driver. There were no other occupants in the vehicle.

Officers were initially dispatched to a traffic complaint about a pickup truck weaving in and out of its lane. As officers were looking for the vehicle, they were advised it had gone off the road near Lovering Lake Road.

Officers arrived on scene, called for the assistance of OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators and conducted their investigation.

At approximately 10:52 PM a Chevrolet Silverado Pick–up truck was travelling north bound on Highway 69 on the newly open section of the highway. The driver of the vehicle was negotiating a gradual right curve when it went off the left side of the roadway. The weather conditions were clear, dry and dark. Road conditions were bare and dry.

Investigators are continuing their investigation.

Detachment Commander Andrew Katulka would like to remind the travelling public to follow the speed limit. If you are tired, pull over and have a rest, so you arrive at your destination safely. Also, if you have been drinking, do not drive.
