OPP investigating fatal MVC involving a transport truck

City of Temiskaming Shores - Members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police are continuing their investigating into a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a transport truck and a motor vehicle that occurred at approximately 3:08 p.m. July 22, 2010.

The collision involving transport truck and two motor vehicles occurred approximately 100 meters south of Sunny Side Road on Highway 11. Highway 11 in both directions was closed from approximately 3:08 p.m. to 4:45 a.m. Traffic was rerouted. Southbound (light traffic) being routed on Radley Hill Road and commercial vehicles are being routed Highway 11 B through Haileybury. Northbound traffic was routed down Highway 558 and through the Haileybury.

Investigation has uncovered that a northbound vehicle driven by a Henry LAFLEUR 70 of Cobalt crossed over the centre line and struck the side of a southbound transport truck then the vehicle spun out and struck another northbound vehicle. Henry LAFLEUR was the only person in the vehicle at the time and was pronounced dead at the scene. Driver of the transport truck a Jerry LAQUINARIO 39 of Dundurn (Sk.) was examined by paramedics at the scene and did not require attending the hospital. Driver of the other northbound vehicle a Jennifer HAWN 28 of Port Perry and three passengers where examined by paramedics at the scene, treated for minor injuries, no one required to be taken to the hospital.

OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators from the Northeast Region Highway Safety Division are investigation the motor vehicle collision. No other details regards to the motor vehicle collision is available at this time but will be released as they come available.
