North Bay – Earlier this year, Constable Vu PHAM (pictured), a late member of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), was killed in the line of duty. To honor this Hero in Life and to assist in supporting his family – Heather, and the three boys, Tyler, Jordan and Joshua, members of the OPP North East Region Emergency Response Team (NER ERT) took this opportunity to contribute to the fund by participating in the North Bay Mattawa Canoe Race.

On July 24, 2010, eight (8) members of the NE ERT team will compete in the 64 km North Bay to Mattawa Canoe race, part of the Mattawa Voyageur Days Festival. We are entering the Voyageur canoe division (26 ', 300lbs canoe with 8 paddlers). Our team has chosen to make it a fundraiser for the Vu PHAM family fund in support of the PHAM Children Trust Fund.

All participating members sought both personal and corporate pledges (ESSO) in effort to raise funds in support of this great cause.

Paddling Team:
