Summer Challenge, the the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board’s enrichment drama program for students entering Grade 7 to Grade 12, offers local youth the opportunity to showcase their talents in acting, music, singing, dancing and production for the community each year. And this year is no exception as they were thrilled to learn they were granted permission to be the first to produce the show north of the U.S. boarder.

Prince of Egypt was a wildly popular movie and a cartoon and now he hopes that success will translate into a play. It tells the story of Moses in Exodus who thinks he is the prince but in reality is the son of a Hebrew slave. Director Joshua Pride says the play shows the discovery Moses makes and what he does with his life. He also says the Summer Challenge crew is taking the audience back in time thanks to modern day technology.

Pride, who cut his acting teeth with Summer Challenge, tells BayToday that the program offers so much more then just a musical at the end of the rehearsal process.

Actress Emily Hawton, who has both professional and community theatre experience agrees with Pride and says Challenge keeps her busy
