As of 1:41 PM Monday 28 June 2010, Environment Canada issued the following Severe thunderstorm watch for for the North Bay - Powassan - Mattawa - West Nipissing - French River areas.

..Severe thunderstorms possible this afternoon.

This is an alert to the potential development of severe thunderstorms with large hail and damaging winds.

Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements. If threatening weather approaches take immediate safety precautions.

At 1:30 PM EDT weather radar and lightning detector indicated a line of thunderstorms extending from Témiscaming to nairn centre with a potential of becoming severe on the Southern Sudbury and North Bay area. The main threats with these thunderstorms are damaging winds, heavy downpours and hail. These storms are moving southeast at 40 km/h.
