Personal Disaster Assistance team members needed

We are looking for a number of people to participate on our Personal Disaster Assistance team (PDA team).  These individuals are often called to house fires or house floods to provide 72 hours of food, clothing and shelter vouchers to affected families and individuals.  These individuals are also trained to provide assistance in the event of a local emergency, such as an evacuation.
 
The North Bay team services an area that ranges from Temiskaming Ontario to just south of Sundridge, and from Sturgeon Falls and Verner to Mattawa.  Typically, our volunteers are on-call for one week a month, from Wednesday to Wednesday.  Our volunteers always work in pairs, and we ensure that you are fully trained before attending your first call.
 
Our volunteers are required to submit a volunteer application package and a current Criminal Reference Check with vulnerable sector search.  You would also be asked to take part in an interview, which we can arrange at your convenience.  No previous training in Disaster Management or Emergency Management is required, though we do request that you have training in First Aid and CPR (which we can provide for you).  Having a valid driver's licence and reliable transportation is an asset.
