Traffic stop leads to drug charges

A North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer stopped a motor vehicle on Highway 17 in East Ferris Township on Thursday, June 24, 2010 for a Highway Traffic Act infraction.

Upon speaking to the occupants of the vehicle, the officer’s investigation resulted in the seizure of 12 pounds (5.4 kilograms) of suspected marijuana.

Jake Soucie (23) of Sudbury, Ontario and Francis Moroz (20) of Espanola are both charged with:

- Possession of a Controlled Substance – Schedule II, Cannabis Marijuana over 30 g contrary to s.4(1) of Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA)

- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, contrary to s.5(2) CDSA Both have a court date of August 20, 2010 to answer to the charges.
