Soles for Africa is holding a fundraising golf tournament to raise money to ship 1,200 pairs of children’s shoes to a primary school in rural Kenya. The tournament, supported by the Rotaract Club of North Bay-Nipissing, will take place on Sunday, May 30, 2010 at Clear Springs Golf Course. The cost for the event is $110 for a team of two and includes a steak dinner. There are also lots of prizes to be won!

To register, visit King Sportswear (745 Clarence Street), the Memorial Gardens box office (between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.) or call Clear Springs Golf Course at 705-724-5735. If you are interested in sponsoring a hole, please contact Jason Berger at 705-499-6826 or [email protected].

Soles for Africa is a small, local initiative started by North Bay native, Jason Berger who discovered the desperate need for children’s shoes in Kenya while participating in a teaching placement in 2007. Berger founded Soles for Africa-Canada with the goal of collecting 1,200 pairs of shoes to be delivered to the students in the rural community where he taught.
