The North Bay Mining Association (NBMA), with the support of the local branch of the Canadian Institute of Mining (CIM), will be celebrating Mining Week in North Bay the week of May 2, 2010.

Our main event will be held on Tuesday, May 4, from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm; we will be hosting over 250 grade school students at Canadore College Commerce Court Campus at 60 Commerce Crescent in North Bay. The students will be introduced to mining in our daily lives and will be able to participate in a number of activities including operating shaft sinking equipment models and panning for gold. A poster competition themed “Mining – Then & Now” will be held, with the winning class receiving a trip to Dynamic Earth in Sudbury and others great giveaways.

Mining is a vital industry in our city, with more than 65 mining related companies creating a significant number of well paying jobs and an injection of over $19 million into the local economy each year.

North Bay Mining Association is “Dedicated to promoting the mining industry in our community through education and awareness.”
