Speeding on the main arteries leading in and out of the City core has become a safety issue recognized by both the citizens of North Bay and the North Bay Police Service.

The City of North Bay has resurfaced and/or widened these arteries resulting in improved roadways. As a result however, speeds travelled on these roadways have increased.

Recent media releases speaking to this issue have been made. Enforcement efforts of the North Bay Police Service Traffic Section focusing on excessive speed on the main arteries leading in and out of the core of the City have revealed that many drivers in North Bay are now driving within the posted speed limit of 50 km/hr. Unfortunately far too many drivers continue to drive a near highway speeds within the city limits.

As a result, enhanced speed enforcement efforts will continue through the Traffic Office of the North Bay Police Service targeting specifically Algonquin Avenue, Lakeshore Drive, Fisher Street and Trout Lake Road. Teams of officers will be deployed to the problem areas and laser radar will be utilized. These efforts will continue until acceptable levels of compliance are met and the level of safety that the citizens of North Bay expect and deserve is reached.

Drivers on these roadways are reminded that the posted speed limit on these roadways is a maximum of 50 km/hr in optimum conditions.
