Just as the worlds top athletes gathered in Vancouver to compete for their country in their chosen sport - this Saturday the top students from the local and surrounding area will compete in their chosen skilled trade or technology. The high school students will be competing for the honour of representing their school board at the Ontario Technological Skills Competition, where they may be recognized as the top welder, cinematographer, animator, chef, mechanic, carpenter or machinist in the Province.

Although most competitors are able to advance directly to the Ontario Technological Skills Competition, students who compete in the following contest areas are required to first qualify at the Qualifying Competitions, offered in seven locations across the province in partnership with Ontario colleges.

2D Character Computer Animation (Team of 2)
Carpentry-Individual
Culinary Arts
Small Powered Equipment
TV and Video Production (Team of 2)
Welding
Precision Machining

The top two or three students/teams from each contest at each location will advance to the Ontario Technological Skills Competition in Waterloo, May 17 – 19, 2010.
