A St. Charles man has been fined for dredging the shorelands of Lake Nipissing near Lavigne without a work permit.

Ronald Lachance pleaded guilty and was fined $1,500. He was also ordered to repair the damaged area.

An investigation conducted by the Ministry of Natural Resources in December 2009 found that work had been done along the shorelands although no permit had been issued authorizing the work.

Justice of the Peace Michael Kitlar heard the case in the Ontario Court of Justice, Sturgeon Falls, March 22, 2010.

Landowners are reminded that work permits are required before working in the water or on shorelands.
