Traffic stop results in drug charges

On March 13, 2010 shortly before 10 a.m., an OPP officer was conducting general patrol when he stopped a motor vehicle travelling westbound on Highway 17, Papineau Cameron Township. As a result of the traffic stop, 60 g of suspected Cannabis Marijuana and more than 180 mg Oxycontin were located and having an estimated street value of $9,000.

Yves RATELLE, 25 years old of Verner and Junior MAJOR, 24 years old of Sturgeon Falls are both charged with:
Possession of a Controlled Substance – Schedule II, Cannabis Marijuana over 30 g contrary to s. 4(1) of Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA);
Possession of a Controlled Substance – Schedule I, contrary to s. 4(1) CDSA;
Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, contrary to s. 5(2) CDSA.

Both are scheduled to appear for court in North Bay on March 30, 2010.
