Parry Sound High evacuated Update

This morning Parry Sound High School administration noticed smoke in the school and pulled the fire alarm. The situation was attended to by the Parry Sound Fire Department. The cause of the smoke was a small mechanical fire in an area away from the classrooms.

The fire department has authorized the return of students and staff to the school. Afternoon classes will resume.

As previously decided buses will pick all students up from the mall and bring them home at the regularly scheduled time.

The Near North District School Board would like to extend sincere appreciation to the Parry Sound Fire Department and the Parry Sound Mall for their assistance and support.

All students have been safely evacuated to the school’s emergency site, the Parry Sound mall. Arrangements are being made to provide lunch to students and staff.

Students may be picked up at the mall by their parents or guardians during the day. Buses will pick all remaining students up from the mall and bring them home at the regularly scheduled time.
