Nipissing Area Scouts Canada’s 200-plus youth and adult members involved in National Good Turn Week are asking the public to pass it on.

Nipissing’s Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and adult Scouters will be wearing bright orange “Good Turn” wristbands, but they will not be wearing them for long. Each member will do a good turn, and pass on the wristband, asking the recipient to pass on the “Good Turn” and the wristband.

Scouts Canada has designated March 7 to 13 as National Good Turn Week, and the wristbands will be distributed to the youth and adults at their weekly meetings as part of a “Pass on the Good Turn Campaign”.

A good turn is defined simply as an act of kindness provided without expectation for compensation or recognition. It’s small acts of kindness that promote a sense of community, citizenship, and friendliness and compassion in our world.

The wristbands are a colourful reminder to youth members to “Do a Good Turn Every Day,” and a desire from Scouts Canada to help all Canadians, particularly our youth, create a better and kinder Canada.

The wristbands read “Pass on this Good Turn” and encourage participants to share their Good Turns at the Scouts Canada website – www.scouts.ca. Scouts Canada will track the wave of Good Turns on a special web page – www.scouts.ca/goodturn.

So please pass it on.

Scouts Canada, the country’s leading youth organization, offers fun and exciting outdoor adventure for boys, girls and youth ages 5 – 26 in communities across Canada. More than 200 youth and adults participate in Nipissing Area Scouts Canada’s programs.
