The Near North District School Board is pleased to announce that Dr. Eva Olsson is speaking at seven Near North District Schools throughout the week. The author and public speaker will share her influential message on peace and tolerance with our students, staff, parents and community members while speaking about her experiences during the Holocaust.

Dr. Olsson is a Jewish survivor of the Holocaust concentration camps. Since the late 1990s, she has been speaking about her life experiences to hundreds of classrooms, churches, conferences, colleges and universities. “Why do I spend so much time talking to young people? I trust them and have faith that they will carry on my work. I think this generation has a better chance of standing up to evil if they know what to watch for. When I speak to students I stress that I need them to help me promote tolerance by making sure it is a part of their everyday lives….We are all citizens of this universe and the only way humanity can survive is if we care for each other. We cannot stand back and let racism and intolerance grow.” She has received thousands of letters from students and teachers confirming her wish that by telling her story, she can make a difference in other lives.

The author of the National Bestseller, Unlocking the Doors – A Woman’s Struggle Against Intolerance has spoken to the Near North District School Board several times in the past. The Board would like to once again welcome Dr. Olsson to our schools.
