North Bay man in custody following police chase

A stolen car out of North Bay ON in the early hours on Sat Feb 20, 2010 led to a police pursuit in the Almaguin Highlands area. Almaguin Highlands OPP observed the stolen vehicle a 1992 yellow Geo just north of South River and followed it to Bernard Creek just south of Sundridge on Hwy #11.

Police set up a spike belt there and the vehicle travelled over the belt flattening the tires. The driver still continued to travel south but the vehicle was slowly decelerating as the vehicle was driving on its rims. It finally came to a stop at Hwy #11 and Hwy #518, in Perry Twp when it attempted to pass police cruisers on a snow bank and got stuck.

The driver 36yr old Abraham KAMERMAN of North Bay, ON was arrested without incident and charged with impaired driving and over 80mgs of alcohol; dangerous operation of a motor vehicle; drive disqualified; possession of stolen property and flight from police. KAMERMAN was then transported to North Bay City police to face other charges and was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
