Petawawa man charged with impaired

On the morning of February 13, 2010, a North Bay OPP officer was conducting moving radar patrol on Highway 17 in the township of Commanda when he observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle attempted to evade police by turning onto Nova Beaucage Road.

The vehicle was subsequently stopped on Nova Beaucage Road. This traffic stop investigation led the OPP officer to discover multiple offences including theft of a motor vehicle, impaired driving as well as several outstanding warrants from five different police services in Ontario.

Jonathon Robert LAROCQUE, 28 years old, of Petawawa, Ontario is charged with:
Impaired Operation s.253(1)(a) CC;
Exceed 80 Milligrams Blood Alcohol Content s.253(1)(b) CC;
Dangerous Operation - Motor Vehicle s. 249(1)(a) CC;
Theft Over $5,000 of a Motor Vehicle s. 334(a) CC;
Speeding 50+ Km/h over posted limit s. 128 HTA;
Race a motor vehicle s. 172(1); and
Drive motor vehicle - no licence s.32 (1) HTA.

LAROCQUE was held for a bail hearing on February 14, 2010 and held in custody for a court appearance in North Bay on Tuesday, February 23, 2010.
